I cannot say enough wonderful things about this nursing home. The level of care provided here is truly phenomenal. From the nursing staff to the aides and support team, every single person treats residents with compassion, dignity, and genuine kindness.
The assistant administrator Jacob braun is absolutely fantastic — professional, attentive, and always willing to listen. You can tell that strong leadership sets the tone for the entire facility. Communication is clear, concerns are addressed promptly, and there is a real commitment to excellence.
It gives such peace of mind knowing that our loved one is in a place where they are not only cared for medically, but also valued as a person. The staff goes above and beyond every single day.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a safe, caring, and well-run nursing home. Truly outstanding.

If you’re considering choosing Dumont, think again. There are numerous violations of infection control, safety, and residents’ basic rights in plain sight. I have never seen a facility more filthy. Spilled fluids left to dry on the floors and walls, grime and dirt built up in patient rooms, and dead cockroaches in the bathroom on two separate occasions that remained untouched. I witnessed IV tubing lying on the filthy floor, an obvious infection and safety hazard. The nurses’ medication cart was visibly dirty, reflecting the overall neglect of this facility.
There were a couple of kind nurses and aides who seemed to do their best under the circumstances, but the issues here are so systemic that their individual efforts hardly make a difference unfortunately. To be clear, I don’t expect a nursing home to resemble a luxury hotel; delays in care, a bad day or being short staffed is one thing, but what I saw here is not just poor care, it is outright neglect.

My family member was only here a few days and still acquired a new infection, unsurprising if you’ve seen the conditions. Patients who cannot advocate for themselves were left in painful positions, never repositioned, and one was deliberately left in wet clothes, with a towel simply placed over them to hide it in front of family. That level of indifference was shocking.
Normally, I don’t write reviews like this but I wish I had seen more honest and detailed reviews before this facility was trusted with the care of a loved one. The goal is to help others make more informed decisions and to call attention to admins for accountability and vast improvements at the Dumont for current and future patients.

It actually does appear that this IS your standard of care, or lack thereof. Widespread filth, neglect, and poor care don’t just spontaneously occur. Residents don’t worsen in condition because of a single day of short staffing or a single lapse in care or a single bad nurse. The buildup of dirt and bodily fluids in patient rooms isn’t from housekeeping missing one shift, it’s clearly accumulated over many months. And it definitely wasn’t from the patient we pulled out of there as quickly as possible.
These are just a fraction of the issues we witnessed, yet they speak volumes. What was witnessed doesn’t indicate a lapse in standards. It shows that this IS YOUR STANDARD OF CARE.

I'm late with this. Still wanted to contribute. My 95 year old father got a stroke back in November 2024. He got transferred here from Burke (after 3 weeks). He was at Dumont for 3 months for short term therapy. I can only testify for the 1st floor which was where he stayed. The first floor Manager, Victoria was very approachable, and on top of her work. She took her job seriously. Thank you girl! For the most part, the nurses on the first floor were nice. My dad loved Lisa especially! Thank you Lisa for your service, and big heart!

My dad's experience:
-Physical therapy and occupational therapy were 30min each. Shorter than Burke's.
-He was pretty bored in his room. Expect little to no recreational activities for elderlies; just a word search.
-Our social worker barely called me. I initiated most phone calls with our social worker which was disappointing. It was lackluster service.

My advice:
-They don't offer long term nursing home care
-Check up on your loved ones consistently. When the staff sees that, they know you don't play around.
-Provide things to keep your loved one entertained in their room (headphones for music/podcast, coloring book, books, journal, etc)
-Speak up, and vouch for your loved one. Unfortunately, in this country the dollar sign is everything. People don't care.

My dad is bed bound due to his condition (paralyzed on the left side from the stroke. I am still getting the help he needs. I wish you the best with your loved ones. God bless.

I had to transfer my 90-year-old great aunt to this rehab facility, and unfortunately, our experience has been extremely disappointing and concerning.

On the surface, the facility appears decent, but it quickly became clear that it is not equipped to properly care for elderly patients. This lack of quality care starts at the front desk and continues through nursing staff, doctors, and social workers.

My aunt has been here for about two weeks, and during that time, her health has declined instead of improved. After I expressed concerns to the social worker and discussed possibly removing her early due to poor care, we were suddenly informed that she had developed a swallowing issue. We were told that scheduling the necessary evaluation could take months, which is alarming given her age and condition.

There have been multiple occasions where staff on different shifts were unaware of what previous staff had done. There is a serious lack of communication and documentation. Even the doctor admitted that important information about my aunt’s condition and testing was not documented in her chart and was not communicated to him. This is unacceptable in any medical setting, especially when patients require constant monitoring and medication.

Neither I nor other authorized family members were informed when important tests were conducted. Updates were inconsistent, delayed, or not provided at all. At one point, the speech therapist contacted my grandmother—who is also elderly and had difficulty understanding the information—instead of me, despite my repeated requests to be the main contact.

In addition, while trying to communicate with a doctor about my aunt’s care, I experienced extremely unprofessional behavior. During one call, the conversation was abruptly cut off when the doctor hung up on me while I was asking questions about her condition. This made it even more difficult to get clear and accurate information and showed a lack of respect for concerned family members.

I also experienced dismissive attitudes from staff and a lack of accountability. On one visit, I found my aunt’s catheter bag filled with blood instead of urine, and the nurse could not explain what was happening. Another nurse in the room showed no concern and stated she was “not assigned” to my aunt, offering no help.

I have tried to be patient and understanding, especially during difficult weather conditions, but there is a basic standard of care and communication that must be upheld in healthcare. Unfortunately, this facility does not meet that standard.

As someone without a medical background, I often felt I was advocating more effectively for my aunt than the staff assigned to care for her. That alone says a lot.

I am currently working to have my aunt transferred out of this facility. I strongly encourage anyone seeking care for an elderly loved one to look elsewhere. There are many other facilities in New Rochelle that provide better communication, accountability, and compassion.

I would never bring my aunt back here for rehabilitation, and I would not recommend this facility to anyone who truly cares about their loved one’s wellbeing. Based on my experience, this facility needs serious oversight and improvement before someone is seriously harmed.

I've got to be honest. I really did not expect to see my dad progress so much after he had been bed-ridden in the hospital for many weeks, mostly due to his age. He's in his late 80s. But once my dad got to Dumont, MJ and the other staff in the gym brought him back to his feet! My dad kind of balked at having to exercise 2x a day--who can blame him? But at the end of his stay, he could walk unassisted for over 50 yards and then, with the help of the rollator, he was walking for longer distances without a problem. I visited him for most of his stay and had the chance to meet with his Care Team, all of whom were exceptional. It's so nice to see the elderly taken care of with such compassion and support. Thank you, Dumont, for all you have done for my dad! He's still doing great thanks to you guys!
