My dad is here after a a hospital when he had a stroke . While we wanted him home the care was too much for my elderly mother . Hes been here a few weeks and has improved slowly. The front desk helpful with what my mom needs and have car service for her to visit . while all places have people who do not care for their patients I must say while I visit many nurses in this facility do.  The draw back the construction can be loud at times.

My mom was there for a extended stay, the room was shared with 3 other residence. Her personal belongings was taken often although I reported it. I came to an agreement and took a portion of the money for the stolen property based on the receipt that I photocopy. The room was not clean often. There is no one at the nursing station. The young Hispanic receptionist needs proper training. There are a few good persons with common curtesy, that can be counted on one hand.

I do not have the words to describe how completely unprofessional unorganized rude and just scarey this place is. My husband was in this facility for 1 month. 1 month of Hell. His picc line was falling out they were told " oh just pull it out" NO! That is a medical procedure. They didn't have any camodes available for my husband to use (he is wheel chair bound right now) so they gave him diapers. When he had a BM he rang the bell and had to wait 45 to 2 hours to get changed. That's if they didn't come in turn off the call bell and then say I'll be right back and completely forgot about him. This was a daily occurrence. There were 2 nurses who were great. Most shouldn't be allowed near patients let alone people in general. Night time and day time don't speak so nobody has an idea what's going on or what needs to happen.  Rafael the head guy is a complete LIAR and will tell you what you want to hear just to get out of the situation and leave his staff to deal with the aftermath of angry patients.  Dimitri from PT was amazing. Social worker was useless. The food was inedible. They never had anything in stock and I mean medical supplies to clean my husband's picc line. It needed to be cleaned and changed every 5 days. Well they couldn't because they didn't have anything. They rapped his arm in medical tape. I don't have any idea how this place stays open. It is scarey. If you love your family members and friends. DO NOT send them here. They will be neglected. The state of NY really needs to take a closer look at this facility. This place is so substandard it's a joke how the state let's them stay open.

My experience visiting this place is becoming   So Disgusting it’s like you’re speaking to the walls.

My visit today 12/01/24  I had to call in housekeeping look at this filthy room and my mom had no bath since before Thanksgiving   When I spoke with Seema the supervisor of the floor she told me that my mom shower herself in the night my mom is claustrophobic definitely she’s not doing her job and doesn’t know how to keep up telling lies. Every week I would have to say to them that my mom is not getting her bath and not to mention her bed doesn’t get cleaned sheets unless I say something  This is beyond neglect.

On 12/07/24 I signed in to visit my Mom and was told that I cannot enter the nursing home I asked what’s going I usually visited her every day the receptionist said this was a request from a family member.  Upon hearing this I checked my phone I had a text message from yesterday from my mother daughter who put her in this facility this is her message to me (there was a complaint at the nursing home where mom is at saying that you are verbally assaulting the employees EVERY MORNING.
I had a meeting with the staff and they have now banned you from entering the building. Joyce has dementia and when you cause a scene, she gets agitated and they have to up her dose of medication). If this is the case where I was denied from visiting my mother I will filing an elderly abuse complaint because I have all evidence.  I voiced myself of what is going on wrong in this place and if you’re not a human being then I will not stand by and watch

I was a rehab patient at Hollis House of Horrors for about six weeks after spinal surgery.
I have nothing positive to say whatsoever about the administrators, social workers, and other managerial staff who make their money providing the substandard care that patients are subjected to day after day.
Anyone who is unable to advocate for themselves will surely suffer. To the extent management takes any interest in the clientele it is only when a sufficiently loud complaint is made, repeatedly if necessary.
One morning, a nurse was so quick and rough changing my shirt that my neck was yanked hard enough to require painkillers and x-rays to ensure no damage had occurred.
I was also awoken in the middle of the night when someone was taking my blood. The administrator told me it was regular practice to draw blood, and the service comes early in the morning hours.
I also blame management on the complete lack of communication between night staff and day staff, as well as staff taking breaks and other staff that remain on-duty.
Requests or information conveyed to day staff will likely never be known to the night staff and vice versa. The same holds true with morning and afternoon staff and vice versa.
The lack of safety protocols was also evident after I began to feel ill and needed to insist on getting a Covid test.Had I not insisted on the test and the medicine, I likely would’ve been allowed to interact with staff and patients for days, the majority of whom don’t wear masks when interacting with others -even after it was obvious that there was Covid in the facility because I had not been outside in six weeks to contract it elsewhere.
To make matters worse, after some investigation, I was advised that the last dose of my covid medicine was used on another patient while they waited for medicine to arrive for that patient- the poor record-keeping and the need for me to insist that I had not finished a full course of the medication was completely unacceptable in a facility charged with administering medication to patients.
Also, because of a lack of dexterity in my hand I was supposed to receive a weighted spoon with every meal, which allowed me to feed myself. At least 50% of the time the weighted spoon was not provided to me with my meals even though it was noted on every meal slip given to me with each meal.
In another example of management disconnect with the patients in their care, the facility is undergoing renovations that began at 8 o’clock in the morning and continued past 8 PM-Despite the law requiring construction to stop at 6 PM.   It makes me physically ill to think of all the patients unable to speak for themselves that likely must endure that construction till 8:00 PM.
There was no safety grab bars in the bathroom in my room.
When my dirty laundry continued to sit for 2 weeks, the excuse I was given was when there’s not enough laundry, it’s not taken- Zero acceptance of any responsibility by management.
Overall, my stay at the Hollis horror house was almost as traumatic as my spinal injury itself. Being subjected to diaper changes at five in the morning despite my insistence that it’s not necessary, the crappy food, the lack of safety protocols and absence of sufficient staff that allows for proper recordkeeping and effective communications between staff to be standard practice makes this place as close to hell on earth as I would ever want to come.
I don’t believe this facility should be allowed to care for patients at all, but  if you are considering this facility for yourself or for a loved one be prepared to vigorously and aggressively advocate on a daily basis for yourself or your loved one. Understand that complaints made to anyone other then the administrator and which you dont document are likely going to be lost if not ignored.
