King David is unquestionably the best sub-acute rehabilitation facility I could ever imagine. From the fresh, clean smell greeting you at the front door to the exceptionally attentive, competent, and friendly staff, I was so grateful to have found this great facility for my 85 year old mother to recover from a severe fall. I am certain that her recovery was fast and thorough because of the top notch therapy team at King David. Nobody wants to see their parent in a rehab facility, but I can say without hesitation that King David is the very best of the best. Both of my parents and all of my siblings agree that my mother received unparalleled care at King David. Bravo to Dany and his wonderful team for operating such an exceptional facility! I will always be so grateful for all you've done for my family!

My overall experience with King David Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has been extremely disappointing and frustrating regarding the level of care my grandmother is receiving. Communication is a major concern. I have emailed the care team multiple times and have only received one response, and that response addressed only half of one concern out of many. Communication is critical when a family entrusts the care of their loved one to a facility, and the lack of follow-through has been alarming.

There has been ongoing unprofessionalism, lack of empathy, and an overall feeling that our questions and concerns are an inconvenience. This includes interactions with nursing staff, GNAs, and even the nursing manager for the Sudbrook Park unit. Bedside manners are poor, and very little comfort is offered to families who are already navigating a difficult and emotional situation. Our family does not feel at ease or confident that our loved one is receiving the level of care she deserves.

While there are significant concerns, I do want to acknowledge staff members who continue to show professionalism and compassion despite what appears to be understaffing. Nurse Joseph is consistently kind, greets us warmly, and is attentive to our concerns. GNAs Elana and Tanika have been wonderful, remaining pleasant and patient with my grandmother even during her more difficult moments.

The therapy team including OT, ST, and PT has been good so far. The therapy facility on the first floor is beautiful and fully functional, and we are hopeful to see continued progress with my grandmother’s rehabilitation. Additionally, the front desk staff consistently greets visitors with a smile and speaks when entering and exiting the facility, which is appreciated.

What is most important is that this review is not met with a generic response asking us to call after we have already made consistent efforts through email and direct communication with staff. We need to see immediate and meaningful improvements in communication, professionalism, empathy, and overall quality of care in the unsatisfactory areas noted above.

Families deserve to feel confident and reassured, not ignored or dismissed.

This facility caters to people that are Jewish. They accept non Jewish patients and take their insurance money but they do not provide non Kosher food options. This is significant because my loved one’s thinks this kosher food is disgusting and would like some traditional American non kosher food. I am aware of what is needed for the food to be considered Kosher. But the cuisine is also strange for some that has never eaten food such as kugel. Can she have some Mac and cheese without raisins in it?? Also. Most of the staff is very nice and caring. But there is a tech that is plain rude and nasty. The majority of our family that visits has witnessed and heard her men and disrespectful comments towards us and our loved one.

I was a patient at King David for three months recovering from a fractured foot.  I read the reviews before I chose King David and thought I was choosing a place that offered quality service and a good place to heal.  For the most part it was a decent place to heal and to regain my ability to walk.

The Physical and Occupational Therapists were excellent.  It was always a joy to see their smiling faces and positive attitudes. I appreciated their determination and support to get me walking again.

Unfortunately, it wasn't the same with some of the aides/GNA staff.  Some of them were wonderful, very kind and caring and others were harsh and rude and showed little or no respect for us as patients who were healing or for residents who were now calling King David home.

We were awakened pretty much every morning on the Bonnie View section with staff who found cursing as their daily greeting to each other and to awaken us up out of a peaceful rest.  It was really disturbing to my soul that they had no regard for their elders, or for the sick patients they were there to serve. I complained to the Director and also suggested his staff could use sensitivity training. Nothing was done about it at that time.

The rehabilitation area of the facility, looks amazing.  All modern, and quiet, like the kind of place you want to put your loved one or to be there yourself to go through your own healing experience.  I never encountered any disrespectful aides, or heard anyone cursing at a patient or resident like on Bonnie View.

The food was pretty much disgusting on a daily basis and wasn't eaten by many residents or patients.  Some of us had family members who could bring us food, so that helped a lot, but not many would come first thing in the morning, so we had to eat those disgusting eggs and bread hard enough to put a hole in the wall.

The activities were great! It was fun to play bingo, word games, watch movies and have time with other residents in a happy, positive environment.  We all looked forward to that. Church services didn't work well for me. Everyone is not equipped to minister to people.

Weekends were always short staffed.  GNA's would complain often that they had too many people assigned to take care of so if we needed to be changed..."oh well we would have to wait until they finished all the other 14 or 16 patients who needed changing". I felt badly for some of the staff who really had good intentions and would come in with positive attitudes, but by the middle of their shift they would be worn out because they had too many people to care for. Being short staffed was a regular thing at King David, but it didn't seem to matter.  They still took in more people to fill their beds even with no staff to care for them.
Even if the staff is overworked...please don't take it out on the sick and elderly.

King David has an excellent therapy staff, physical and occupational and nursing staff too, most of them. And also a really wonderful Rabbi who took time daily to visit and talk with us and assist where needed.

Ringing the bell for assistance was often ignored. Staff would be  outside our door laughing and talking about what was going on in their personal life and totally ignore our bell ringing.  We would often sit for long periods of time, with a diaper full of "poop" hearing them talking, and they would not step into our room and ask what it is we needed. Supposed we were having a heart attack.

King David is not perfect by a long shot, and I have no other place to compare it to.  I have heard its the same in other nursing and rehab facilities around Maryland. Shame on the Health Care System. If you chose King David, please check on your loved ones and listen when they tell you their rights are being violated, they have no one else but you to help them.

I Absolutely Hated being there for 5weeks in Rehab! The food was the Worst, my children would bring me lunch and Dinner, the Nursing Staff(the Aids)  was lazy with a few exceptions,  l would put on my Call light and l could literally hear the Aids  laughing and joking while l waited for the bedpan! After using the Bedpan l would have to Wait anywhere from 30- minutes or More before Someone would finally empty it! No one offered to assist with my bathing or helping to change my Hospital gown. Their PT and OT department is the Best especially Olivia and Boaz. I would Definitely Not Recommend this place.
