I am ONLY rating the check in, & outpatient procedure area. I took one star off only because certain areas could use updating. Everything was great! I was treated with respect, staff was caring/helpful/considerate, everything was pretty clean and they had a gown you wear before your procedure that heats and cools with an attached hose. Would highly recommend for an outpatient, or MRI with sedation procedure.

Understandably overwhelmed with record flu cases but stuffing patients with sepsis staph infections in a dirty corner of the basement with only a curtain as a barrier to the petri-dish of germs floating past??? Rude, overworked nursing staff. Hearing Aids stolen. Requests unanswered. Diagnosis unexplained. It took over 24 hours to get a room upstairs. When we attempted to leave they explained that it was impossible to get care elsewhere at this point and we were not allowed to leave. Quite sure our objections about treatment affected our care going forward. Overall, disgustingly dirty, non-existent communication from professional staff, horrible food and a lousy layout. It’s a rotten place to be sick.

Excellent experience. My daughter had to go to the Emergency Room after an urgent care visit's results came back, and we were closest to St. John's. From start to finish, we were there for 4 hours. We were treated with such care and respect. They ordered very thorough tests and labs, and we were able to leave with a diagnosis and treatment plan. Even though they were extremely busy, all the employers were kind and compassionate and had a great sense of humor. Highly recommended.

Doug the nurse in the ER is amazing!  My elderly mother is there because she is sick and there are no beds and I am out of state so I called to advocate for my mom and check in to see what the plan is for her and he spent time looking at things and helping me, even though it didn’t change that there are no beds, but he was very caring and attentive to me and to her.  All well, the ER is so busy that there are no beds and the hospital is so busy that there are no beds and he was still caring and compassionate.

Just wanted to share my experience at St John's and Woodwinds hospitals in the past week.
Friday November 7th I received a call from my daughter that her husband James was unable to move or walk without great difficulties,  my daughter was ill and unable to take him to get emergency care so she asked me to take him.  We went to Woodwinds in Woodbury,  after being assessed, blood pressure at 191/127 and in obvious distress we went right back to a room. They started and IV and gave him antinausea medication and morphine, this provided much needed relief from the pain immediately. His right leg was giving out and the feeling was diminished greatly. Sent him to have a CT scan. We were told that he had a bone spur that was causing his pain. Shortly afterward they discharged him with oxycodone to take at home. Barely able to walk out of the ER I took him home.  Saturday and Sunday he did not improve and the pain medication was not helping very much. Monday we were told to return to the Emergency room at Woodwinds.  Again upon getting in to the Emergency room  an IV was started and morphine was given for his pain which made it tolerable.  A MRI was done of his low back, we were told that there were issues at L1-2 and L 4-5. He needed surgery to release the pressure on his spinal cord. Woodwinds did not have any operating rooms available but they could transfer him to St John's and have the surgery the next day (Tuesday,  November 11th)  James and I both said no to being transferred to St John's symaltaniouly.  But somehow talked him into it anyway, basically giving him no options other that go home and suffer. So it went from a bone spur on Friday to an emergent surgery on Tuesday.
Tuesday comes me and his daughter are in his room 2 1/2 hours before his surgery and they come to get him to take preopp trays, they want him to get in a wheelchair,  which he can not do. They bring in another bed to transfer him to and proceed to place an air mattress under him. With no communication as to what they are doing they started lowering the bed from a semi seared position. This caused a great deal of pain and with no warning he wasn't prepared for the move.  They proceed to take him to pray as we stay in the room waiting for him to come back. Not a soul has communicated anything to me or his daughter.  About an hour in a half later I received a text message on my phone that he was being move to the operating room for his procedure.  I was so confused, Noone said he would not be coming back to his room before his surgery.  Communication was nonexistent.  We got to the surgery admin unit as 4 nurses were taking him to the OR, thank goodness his daughter got to see him before hand.  We received updates via text messages a couple times throughput the day. At 2:01 it stated that someone would be out to talk to us. At 4:30 my husband went to the surgery administration unit and asked why Noone ever came out to tell us how the surgery went and what was done, he was told theyvwould get someone to come out. After going back again and asking for help a nurse from the surgery recovery room came out and talked to us. She let us know that his recovery was going well and he would be moved back to his room sometime. She had no information about the surgery or what procedures had been done, she could only give us the information she had after being with him in recovery. The Dr never communicated with anyone to explain what had been done. The outcome or what he or any of us could expect. He was uncomfortable and in sever pain all night Tuesday into Wednesday. He could not get to sleep and my granddaughter called me telling me he was in so much pain he was physically crying. There is no excuse for any of this story, not one part of it. The fact that all of these thing failed so miserably all at once is incredibly neglectful on everyone behalf,  Shame on Woodwinds  Shame on St John's Shame on Dr Truong Do the surgeon and the nursing staff. This is horrific and should have never happened.
