Everyone was so great during my surgery. The registration was simple, nurses were great, anesthesiology team was too notch. I met them all and they took their time explaining. Dr. Reubenhausen was great. I am glad I made the 2.5 hour trip to use this Dr and facility. There are not enough stars.

Decatur Memorial Hospital, I am truly disappointed and appalled by the care I received from your emergency room. I have never been one to seek meds or anything to help with pain and to hear nurses (Vaun, NP and Andrea, LPN) saying that I'm just a drug seeker was completely embarrassing, unprofessional and infuriating.  I have always held jobs that require a high level of professionalism and require both myself and my employees to be drug free, I won't even take Tylenol. On top of that comment your nurse also told my wife to shut up when I asked her to answer for me. My wife has been in the medical field far longer than I have and I trust her opinion and her knowledge.

Decatur Memorial Hospital you need to hold your employees to a much higher standard of professionalism and care.

(ignore the name) i have been there twice. im pregnant with twins and the first time i went it took 6 hours just to even be discharged. in that time it took about 30 minutes to get vitals,2 hours to have an ultrasound and damn near 3 hours just to get to the er and wait another hour to confirm my twins. the last visit i had an emergency and it took 5 minutes to get vitals but 2 hours to be checked but we left. we found our answer on our own and left. if you want to be in the ER waiting lobby, bring a charger and snacks because you’ll be there for hours even for a cold or head lack

Daughter is currently in the er waiting to be seen. She has face and throat swelling she is on pre op iodine with potential allergic reaction. Have spoke with the Admin on Duty that only got her to be seen by the triage nurse. They were told she would be back soon they had to clean a room. Hour later she is still sitting in the lobby called the charge nurse nurse and asked her to reevaluate her cause she text me that it was getting harder to swallow her spit. That was at 10pm and it’s 10:38pm and she has yet to reevaluate her. This hospital needs to have the Joint commission and the Illinois Department of Public Health to step in and get this ER straightened out out cause this is the second time one of my children have had a horrible experience with this ER. My youngest suffers from PTSD from all the times she was poked to get an IV in which they are only allowed to poke so many time they went over board tried to file complaint the but DMH wasnt willing to take responsibility for the care she received in the ER. This is not ok this hospital should not be allowed to operate in this manner.

My mother was seen in the ER, her primary care doc advised her to go to the ER to get testing done for a potential blood clot in her leg. Shes been in pain for 5 days that has been worsening. The blonde P.A (she had a pony tail and glasses) on Oct. 8th around 11am. She was very rude and unprofessional and argued with my mother that there is no way she has a blood clot and that would not cause her to have a heart attack. Her mother died of  blood clot, so you can understand how important this is to us that we get it figured out. The P.A told my mom she could request for a new dr since at that point the P.A showed how uncaring and unprofessional she was. She didnt even have a name tag on and refused to give her name. My mom agreed to have a new doctor so she had to go back to the waiting room. That is when I (her daughter) showed up for her support and it was clear I needed to help advocate for her. We waited about 2 hours. And when I asked one of the receptionist why we have waited so long, she said they based it off how important the emergency is and that my mom had refused care earlier, which that was not the case. And i told the receptionist my mom could have a blood clot in her leg. And the receptionist replied "possibly". So I just went back and sat down. At that point my mother had been there before all the new people that had walked in. A nurse comes out and grabs 3 people and my mom thought she was called. We go back and was told it was mistake and had to go back out. We asked why everyone was going before her and we were told it is based off importance. Well, if my mom could have a blood clot is that not important? I think it was straight discrimination because my mom and the P.A had a disagreement. All of the nurses were looking at us disgusted and made us feel very unimportant and it just proved how unprofessional everyone was being towards the situation. My mom decided to leave and she planned on going elsewhere. I am a CNA and in nursing school and I just can not believe how your staff treats people!!!!!! Its insane!!!! but i guess i cant expect much from DECATUR.
